Connecticut is one of the most affluent states in the nation, with its proximity to New York City and it’s attractive rural living possibilities within a highly populated area. There are approximately 3.5 million people in the state and, interestingly, there are nearly 9,000 law enforcement officers. The state’s prison population is close to 19,000 and there are nearly 50,000 residents on probation.
Connecticut ranks 33rd in violent crime rate for the US. Today the states DOC (drug of choice) seems to be heroin with crack cocaine being almost equal. Connecticut is located between NYC and Boston, which are both major drug distribution center and the I-95 corridor that runs between these two cities carries much of the hard and illicit drugs that are sold along the way.
